While he's in Oakland now, Athletics outfielder Emil Brown spent the last three seasons living in Kansas City as a member of the Royals, and apparently he got himself into a bit of trouble while living in KC. Back in January of 2007 24-year old Jennifer Haigh accused Brown of sexual assault, but instead of pressing charges against him, the two allegedly worked out a settlement that would keep Haigh quiet about the whole situation.Well, now Haigh is saying that Brown hasn't paid up and she's taking him to court ($).
Emil Brown, an outfielder now with the Oakland A's, faces accusations that he breached a contract in which he was to pay more than $75,000 for a January 2007 incident. Brown, 33, who played for three years in Kansas City, joined Oakland as a free agent prior to this season. In a vague breach of contract lawsuit filed on Thursday, Jennifer Haigh, 24, claimed Brown owes her an undisclosed amount as part the deal they reached after a "pre-suit mediation process."Now it should be pointed out that this is the second time this case has been taken to court, and that the first time it was dismissed by the judge because of Haigh's questionable character. And by questionable character, I mean her proclivity for lying. Apparently Haigh has lied to the Missouri DMV a few times about her address and to her employer about here whereabouts in March 2007. What any of that has to do with her claims against Brown, I'm not sure. What I do know, is whether these allegations against Brown are true or not, this is probably not how he was hoping to spend his four days off.

For most teams, trading away their best pitcher an their best hitter for ten prospects would be enough moves for one offseason. Most teams are not the Oakland A's. On Friday, they signed former Pirate and Royal
When you're the Kansas City Royals, you do everything you can to try to have fun at the ballpark ... because if winning is fun for you, that solution's not really in the picture very often.
Emil Brown has led the Royals in RBI's the last two seasons with 86 and 81 in '05 and '06 respectively. The Royals know that he can handle a bat reasonably well, but they also notice that Brown has trouble with defense at times. Unfortunately for Brown, the media tends to focus on that as well, and he's getting pretty tired of hearing about it.
