Jose Canseco Gets Quickly 'Knocked Into Next Week' at Celebrity Boxing Match Saturday

Vai Sikahema didn't save the world on Saturday night, but he got the ball rolling, and that's pretty good for an average guy. And he did so by quickly destroying Jose Canseco in a "celebrity" boxing "match" that didn't last too particularly long and ended the same way it started, according to the New York Daily News: with a crowd of roughly 1,300 people booing, cursing and mocking the former baseball player for his steroid use.

In nearly less time than it takes to round the bases after one of his moon-shot homers, Jose Canseco was knocked out by former NFL return man Vai Sikahema in their celebrity boxing match that was equal parts "Saturday Night Fever" meets "Road House." How's this for star power - 1993 Phillies World Series goat Mitch Williams was ringside for the main event.

Asked after the fight if there were any surprises, Sikahema said, "That it didn't finish in the first 30 seconds."

Vai Sikahema Is Ready for Canseco

Man, what's it been, like nine days (scratch that, it's been about an hour) since we mentioned Jose Canseco on FanHouse? That's way too long for anybody to go without getting a fix of their favorite chemically enhanced slugger turned chemically enhanced author turned chemically enhance embarrassment boxer.

Thankfully Jose's upcoming opponent, former NFL kick returner Vai Sikahema, works for the local NBC affiliate in Philadelphia and he's allowing us all a glimpse into his preparation.

That is some good graphics work right there, though I have to echo Bugs & Cranks' David Chalk (where I found this video) in saying that they should have Rocky'd it up a little bit. Where's the footage of Sikahema running the stairs or punching slabs of frozen cow in a meat locker? That would have made the whole piece so much better.

Jose Canseco Wants to Fight Curt Schilling

It's been a while since FanHouse checked in on Jose Canseco (nearly a full week) and the circus that is his life. Last we heard from Jose, he was set to fight Vai Sikahema in a "celebrity" boxing event. Unfortunately, sacrificing Vai Sikahema to the god that is Jose Canseco is just not enough. Jose's blood lust can not be quenched with one mediocre kick returner from years past.

No, for Jose to truly be satisfied, he needs to fight somebody who can combine the nerd qualities of someone who blogs and plays online role-playing games, with the ability to strike out big league hitters. Who could ever meet such standards!?

From Ben Maller:
Retired steroid slugger Jose Canseco challenged Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling to a fight while appearing this morning on Angelo Cataldi's morning show on WIP in Philadelphia. Canseco also claimed the bloody sock that helped make Schilling famous was actually ketchup.
